Williamson County Junior Master Gardener Camp

Williamson County Junior Gardener Camp (JGC) is a unique day camp experience for your child! It is a one week long, half day educational camp held at the Williamson County Ag/Expo Center in early June each year for children ages 6-12.  Approximately 60 campers attend JGC each summer.  Our focus is on introduction to horticulture, environmental stewardship, and giving back to the community. With over 800 hours of volunteer time to make this camp run smoothly, we plan a new camp each year based upon a specific theme.  Campers are divided into groups by age and rotate through carefully planned educational activities involving speakers, interactive activities, games, snacks, and meeting new friends! 

The goal of camp is to provide life lessons for the campers that will continue to grow into  lifelong learning and love of horticulture and nature, as well as the importance of being a good steward of their community,  By participating in JGC, each camper is part of an international youth gardening program jointly sponsored by the Williamson County Master Gardeners Association and the University of Tennessee Agricultural Extension.  As a service program, JGC strives to keep the program affordable to a wide range of community youth.. Scholarships are available.  Camp price has remained at $60/camper which covers daily activities, snacks, a t-shirt, and an unmatchable experience.

There will be some major changes to the 2021 camp. Due to all the COVID-19 testing and vaccinations taking place at the Ag Center this year, we have temporarily moved our camp location to Stoney Creek Farm, 4700 Coe Lane, Franklin, TN. This is a 15 acre working farm in Franklin near Hwy 96 and Arno Rd. Volunteers have been busy planning an educational, interactive, fun filled camp for your child with the added fun of being outdoors the entire time! Yes, there will be bugs! Yes, they will get dirty! We are always looking for new, enthusiastic Master Gardener volunteers to help with this camp. Volunteers can generally meet most of their volunteering hours requirements for the year by helping with this camp.   Email jrgardenercamp@gmail.com to sign up to help.
