Our April speaker will be Adam Turtle, operator and owner of EARTH ADVOCATES RESEARCH FARM. Adam & his wife Sue use an agro ecological approach. As an ‘’off grid subsistence farmer’’ and ethnobotanist they have been researching experimenting with temperate bamboo species and forms appropriate for Middle Tennessee since 1979.

Soil building, water management and microclimates are significant aspects of their research focus. Recently they have explored little know potential food crops – eatable landscape planting.

Adam’s newest passion is breeding Tree Peonies which he calls food for the spirit

At Earth Advocates Research Farm we are researching candidate plant species, evaluating plant assemblages and exploring cultural techniques and strategies all toward developing sustainable, regenerative ways (i.e. low input) of stewarding our home planet.

EARTH ADVOCATES Open Garden Day is coming up on Sunday, April 2.
